Even though the Wyoming Cowboys are beginning their game week preparations for Nebraska, they’re taking some time to visit Cheyenne for a two-hour practice on Saturday, Aug. 25. It’s called “Cowboys in the Capital”, and will be a full practice session for the Pokes at Cheyenne Central’s Riske Field, which will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will also be plenty of activities for the kids, plus food and drinks for the two hours. Wyoming Senior Associate Athletic Director Kevin McKinney says it’s an important outreach for the university to visit the state’s capitol, but it’s not easy logistically to bring everything over.
Junior cornerback Blair Burns believes that this will give the Cowboys some experience of getting on the bus and traveling to a game, but he’s also excited about the opportunity to show the fans what they’re all about.
Since this is an official Wyoming practice, fans are not allowed to take videos or photos during the practice. There will be a chance to get autographs and pictures following the practice.
