The U.S. Department of Education honored three Wyoming schools with the Blue Ribbon School Award on Wednesday. The winners from the Cowboy State include Coffeen Elementary in Sheridan, Jackson Hole High School and Lovell High School.
“Being named a Blue Ribbon School is a great honor,” said Dr. David Holbrook, the Federal Programs Division Administrator for the state education department. “In Wyoming only three schools a year are identified as Blue Ribbon Schools and it is a national award, so this is very prestigious.”
All three schools were honored in the category of High Performing School. They will each receive a plaque next week during ceremonies at their schools.
This year the U.S. Department of Education honored 286 schools nationwide.
