After enrolling a record number of students last year, the University of Wyoming reports a slight enrollment decline for the 2013 fall semester.
UW reports that 12,928 students enrolled this fall, a decrease of 194 students, or 1.5 percent, from last year. New freshman enrollment was nearly the same, dropping by only three students from last year.
International student enrollment increased for the sixth consecutive year, with 815 international students studying at UW this fall, a 3.3 percent increase. The racial and ethnic minority population increased by 5.4 percent, to 1,335 students, or 10.3 percent of the student body.
Vice President for Student Affairs Sara Axelson expects total enrollment to be around 14,000 students after all of the Outreach School enrollments are recorded by the end of the semester.
