University of Wyoming President Robert Sternberg wants to know how to improve things withing the athletics department, particularly within the football and men’s basketball programs. Sternberg says the “big two” have been too inconsistent over the years and wants to why. That’s why he hired a consulting firm–Collegiate Sports Associates–back in early September. That firm was on campus in early October, talking to coaches, administrators and student organizations, to get a feel for how things are run within the “big two” athletic programs at Wyoming. Athletic Director Tom Burman talked to the consultants, and said their ultimate goal is simple–improvement.
Burman says having consultants on campus is not that uncommon, with the exception of this reason, which is to look at specific athletic programs. The recommendations from the firm are expected in a few weeks.
