The Wyoming Cowboys host a talented SMU team tonight (Friday) in the Arena Auditorium. The Mustangs are directed by legendary basketball coach Larry Brown, who is in his second year in Dallas. They return four starters from last year’s squad, a team Wyoming beat by three in dramatic fashion last season in Dallas. But they’ve added some significant talent with several transfers since Brown’s arrival at SMU. Cowboy head coach Larry Shyatt says that this Mustangs’ team, that is 8-2 on the season, is a different team team from the one they beat last year.
Shyatt adds that when you’re facing a team coach by a hall of famer like Brown, you know just what type of team to expect to see.
Tip off tonight in the AA is set for 7 pm. It’s also Kenny Sailors Night at the AA. A halftime ceremony will honor Sailors and the 1943 national championship team, as it’s the 70th anniversary of that team. Sailors is the lone surviving member of that squad.
