The Wyoming Cowboys have the tough task of opening up Mountain West Conference play on the road Saturday. The Pokes will be in Reno for a date with the Nevada Wolfpack. The road hasn’t been very kind to the Cowboys during non-conference play, going 0-3, but they did pick up a neutral site win over South Dakota in Rapid City. The road losses for the Cowboys have come at #3 Ohio State, at #20 Colorado, and at Denver.
Nevada is led by one of the best guards in the league in Deonte Burton, who is averaging 22 points a game. The Cowboys are led by junior Larry Nance JR. who is averaging 16 points and 9 rebounds a game. Nevada opened conference play Wednesday with a win over San Jose State, while the Cowboys played a nonconference game against Western State, a 69-52 win. True freshman Trey Washington III scored a career high 24 points for the Cowboys, including knocking down five three pointers. Tap time is set for 4pm MST.
