Another recruiting class is in the books for the Wyoming Cowboy basketball coaching staff. Head coach Larry Shyatt put the finishing touches on this latest class, by announcing the signing of Alex Aka Gorski. He is a 6’5″ shooting guard from Sweden. Gorski played last season at Sunrise Christian Academy, which is a prep school in Wichita, Kansas, that produced a number of division one athletes this season. Before his year at Sunrise, Gorski played more than 45 games for the Swedish national team at several levels, including the under-20 team at the European National Championships in 2013, and the under-18 team in 2012 at the same event. Gorski says that his strengths are his shooting ability and his basketball IQ. But says that playing in Sweden, against some tough competition, really helped his game.
Gorski averaged 14 points, four assists and four rebounds a game, while shooting 44% from the three-point line, last season at Sunrise. With the under-18 Swedish national team, Gorski averaged more than 15 points, five rebounds and two assists per game. Shyatt says that Gorski was his priority from the get-go.
Gorski also had visits to St. Joseph’s and Loyola Marymount, before choosing Wyoming to play basketball.
