The Wyoming Cowboys much-anticipated opener of the Craig Bohl era is this Saturday in Laramie. For the first time since 1997, the Cowboys play Montana, an FCS program out of the Big Sky Conference. The Grizzlies come in as one of the top FCS teams in the country, ranked preseason #5. They also return a solid quarterback in Jordan Johnson, and have a quality running back corp on offense, plus a very stout defensive line. The Cowboy coaching staff is very familiar with the Grizzlies’ personnel, and Wyoming middle linebacker Jordan Stanton believes that could be an advantage for the Cowboys.
Bohl also announced the team captains for the season, chosen by the members of the football team. Redshirt senior quarterback Colby Kirkegaard, senior wide receiver Dominic Rufran, junior defensive end Eddie Yarbrough and defensive back Darren White were all selected by their teammates.
Wyoming opens the season at home against Montana Saturday afternoon. Kickoff at War Memorial Stadium is set for 2 pm.
