Wyoming defensive lineman Cole Godbout (pronounced Good-boh) is looking to make even more improvements for 2022. The Cowboy’s defensive line, particularly the defensive ends, lost a lot from last year. But, the interior is experienced and ready to impress. In 2021, Godbout was second in the Mountain West, among interior defensive lineman, with 70 tackles. He also had seven tackles for loss and five sacks on the year. But, Godbout says, with the work that he’s put in this offseason, he’s expecting even bigger things for 2022.
“Looking back at film and looking at the film from this camp, I think I’ve improved so much. I think Giles (UW Defensive line coach Oscar Giles) has really worked on my game, and I really think I’m going to blow my last season out of the water in terms of just my ability.” Godbout added, “I’ve gotten faster, I’ve gotten stronger, I’ve put on a little weight and I just think I can do way more. Now that Chad’s (former UW LB Chad Muma) gone I really have to step up and make more plays, even more than I did last year. I think overall, pass or run, my game’s improved tremendously.”
Wyoming is wrapping up training camp in Laramie. The regular season starts August 27th, on the road at Illinois.
