CASPER, Wyo. — Casper officials may repeal a ban on smoking in all public places after they were forced to repeal an amendment exempting bars.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1gqRzd5) council members moved forward Tuesday night with plans to repeal the no-smoking ordinance. They will discuss the issue again Sept. 22.
The Supreme Court ruled in June that the city clerk should not have tossed 67 signatures on a petition attempting to allow voters to decide whether bars should be included in the ban. The ruling forced the council to eliminate its exemption for drinking establishments.
Bars in Casper have been smoke-free for a week.
