Last season, the Wyoming Cowboy football team gave the Texas Longhorns all the could handle last September in Austin. The Pokes took a CFP semifinalist into the fourth quarter, in a 10-10 football game. Wyoming didn’t back down, but eventually faltered down the stretch. Texas defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat–who will hear his name called at next week’s NFL Draft–said that the Cowboy offensive line was the best line they faced all season long. Wyoming offensive lineman Jack Walsh says that’s definitely high praise.
“Going into that game, we knew what we were up against,” said Walsh. “They had just beaten ‘Bama (Alabama) the week before, and it’s a new era of Texas football. To hear him (T’Vondre Sweat) say that, because of how hard we prepped and how hard we worked, we gave it our all that game. So to hear him say that, it’s really appreciative of the guys, and we’re just very fortunate to get that kind of praise from somebody who’s going to go be a great pro some day. It was just really awesome.”
Wyoming will wrap up week four of spring football practice tomorrow (Saturday). The spring game is a week from tomorrow, April 27th, at Cheyenne East High School.
