University of Wyoming head football coach Craig Bohl announced on Tuesday the signing of Taniela Lolohea, a defensive end from El Camino College in Torrance, Calif., to a national letter of intent. Lolohea will join the Cowboy Football program for the 2016 season as a junior and will have two years of eligibility to play for the Cowboys.
As a sophomore at El Camino College, the 6’1″, 245-pound defensive end earned Second Team All-Conference honors in the Central League of the Southern California Football Association. Lolohea recorded 56 tackles, including 5.0 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss. He also recovered two fumbles — one of which was for a touchdown. His freshman season, Lolohea was credited with 13 tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss and forced one fumble. He played for head football coach John Featherstone at El Camino College. Lolohea has already served an LDS Church Mission to Nicaragua, and will come to Wyoming as a very mature player.
Lolohea is originally from Hawthorne, Calif., where he played at Hawthorne High School.
He becomes the 24th member of Wyoming’s 2016 recruiting class.
The national letter-of-intent signing period for football began on Wednesday, Feb. 3 and will conclude on Friday, April 1, 2016.
