Water levels at Glendo State Park are expected to rise to approximately five feet into the flood pool within the next few days and fluctuate during the coming month.
Most campgrounds are open. Park staff are implementing high water plans which including placement of picnic tables, pumping of toilets, identifying overflow parking and additional campsites. Staff reports that the park looks gorgeous and boating and fishing are excellent.
Timely updates are available through the State Parks website at wyoparks.state.wy.us. Information will be updated as conditions change which may happen several times a day.
These closures represent a small percentage of the total available boat ramps and campgrounds in the park. As of noon on May 29, Indian Point, Broken Arrow, Burnt Wagon and Muddy Bay campgrounds are all closed. Mule Hill and Sandy Beach have partial closures of campsites. Whisky Gulch low water ramp and Indian Point boat ramp are not accessible.
All other campsites and boat ramps are open.
Rising water from the Tongue River in northern Wyoming has flooded the Connor Battlefield Campground in Ranchester resulting in the facility’s closure until further notice.
Baring possible heavy rainfall this weekend, the flow from the river is expected to lessen on Friday. In the event of possible heavy rain, the river is not expected to crest until the middle of next week.
The Wyoming Division of State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails will notify the public of the campground’s reopening following clean up and repair of the site once the water recedes and public safety can be assured.
