Wyoming freshman cornerback Zaire Jackson definitely made some noise during last Saturday’s spring game. Jackson finished with three tackles, had an interception and recovered a fumble. Not bad for a young man that should be getting ready for his senior prom right now. Jackson is the only member of the 2021 recruiting class that is currently on campus, and he’s taking advantage of his opportunity.
Is it enough for him to break into the top two of the depth chart, behind C.J. Coldon and Azizi Hearn, he’s not sure. But, he’s hopeful his performance will get the defensive coaches to notice.
“I would love to do that, but there’s some guys in front of me right now. Cam Stone, he’s pretty good. Xavier Carter and Caleb (Roberson) are up there to. So, I wouldn’t want to say I’m there yet, but I would love have that opportunity if I can.”
Head coach Craig Bohl felt that Jackson’s performance is something that he can definitely build on.
“It was really encouraging. Zaire is from Valor Christian down in Denver, and he reached out and did some good things during the course of the spring. He’s still young. Most of those guys are getting ready to go to prom their senior year, and he’s out playing in a college football game. So, it’s good to see him out there.”
Wyoming wrapped up spring football practice last Saturday. The Cowboys will get some time off, and get back at it for summer workouts on May 24th.
