Brush up your camera skills in Douglas this March

I’ve been neglecting the camera bag for a while now. Not long ago, I was thinking about getting it out and taking some photography trips, and that’s when I heard about the Platte River Photography Workshop.

Whether you’re a seasoned photography veteran or a new kid on the block, there’s a photography workshop coming up at the end of March you won’t want to miss. It’s the Platte River Photography Workshop, and this year it’s taking place in and around Douglas March 29th and 30th.

They’ll have classes on both Saturday and Sunday, including camera basics; composition of landscape, wildlife and portrait photography; wildlife photography; digital painting; and pet photography. The incredible experts teaching these classes are Chris Luse, Erin Schwartzkopf, Ron Hayes, Andy Zavodny, and Kim Pezechki. If you’re not familiar with these artists’ work, you need to check them out. They make magic with their cameras.

There’s also a landscape and sunset field trip on Saturday and a wildlife photography field trip Sunday. In addition, after lunch on Saturday, they’ll have a photo critique class. There aren’t many better ways to improve your photography than to have experts point out what is good and what could have been improved in them.

If you’re already an accomplished photographer, you might think about entering the Platte River Photography Show & Reception, too. That event takes place Friday, March 28th, and you can win cash prizes if you submit winning photos. If you want to enter, though, you need to get your entries in by March 22nd.

For more information on both the workshop and the photography show, including registration forms for both, visit Jackalope.org and click the “Events & Event Registration” button.

Maybe I’ll see you in Douglas in March.
