A federal complaint charges Casper-based True Oil and associated companies discriminated against woman employees by paying them less than men for equivalent work.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a complaint Friday in U.S. District Court in Wyoming against True Oil and nine associated companies that operate in 12 states.
The lawsuit charges the companies paid female accounting clerks less than it paid male clerks.
The EEOC issued a statement Monday saying it filed suit after first trying to reach a settlement with the companies.
Jack Blomstrom is general counsel for True Oil. He says Monday he had no comment on the complaint.
According to True Oil’s Web site, the True companies employ over 1,000 people in Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Mississippi.
