Wyoming volleyball’s Courtney Chacon has been named the Mountain West’s Offensive Player of the Week, the office announced this morning. This is the first Conference weekly award for the Platteville, Colo., native.
The senior setter recorded a season-high 40 assists (13.33 aps) in the straight-set sweep of Utah State on Saturday night. She was also one dig away from her team-leading fourth double-double of the season. Additionally, Chacon tied her season-high of four kills for the Cowgirls, and was second on the team with a .429 hitting percentage.
Chacon is sixth on the all-time assists list for Wyoming. She has recorded 2,792 for her career and has led the team in that category in every match this season. This year, she has dished out 30 or more assists in seven of the 16 total matches.
The Brown and Gold (10-6 overall, 3-0 MW) return to conference action this Thursday, as UW travels to UNLV before a matchup at New Mexico on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT on against the Rebels and 12 p.m. versus the Lobos.
