I’ve run across a few stocking stuffer ideas that would be great for the people on your list who spend a lot of time outdoors. If you’re hoping to hear some good ideas for romantic stocking stuffers for your better half, though, I’m afraid I’m not going to be much help.
Though a few of these could maybe work for your wife or husband, even if that person doesn’t use it to go out in the field and put food on the table.
Let’s start with a headlamp. Yeah, every outdoorsperson on your list probably already has one, but I can guarantee you they can’t find it when they need it. The more of them they have, the better. They can keep one in the truck, one in the house, one in a coat pocket … and a bunch of batteries to go with them will help fill out that stocking, too.
One of my go-tos each year is GearTies. An assortment pack fits nicely in a stocking, and these may be the greatest invention of the past century. They’re basically industrial strength twist-ties, but they don’t wear out. I’ve had some for 10 years or more, and they keep doing what they’re supposed to do. The only ones I have that have started breaking down are the ones holding stuff up in the yard, where they’re exposed to the weather 24/7, 365 days a year.
And how about gloves? Leather gloves, insulated gloves, running gloves, tactical gloves – you can’t go wrong with a pair or two of gloves.
Then there’s ammo, of course. Your hunting buddy is always happy to get ammo. Fill all that extra room in the stocking with ammo. If you want to be a little mischievous, you can take it all out of the package and sprinkle the individual rounds into the stocking. That allows you to fit more in, and it gives you the added bonus of watching the recipient have to bundle it all up again.
Good luck to you on your stocking stuffing this year!
