First Place in the Mountain West is on the Line Tonight (Wednesday) Between the Cowgirls and UNLV

The last time the Wyoming Cowgirls and UNLV played was last March in the championship game of the Mountain West Tournament. The Rebels beat the Cowgirls–which was their third win over Wyoming during the season. They meet for the first time this season, with first place in the Mountain West on the line. Both teams enter the game at 7-1 in league play. The big matchup will be in the post, with Allyson Fertig against Desi-Rae Young of UNLV. Cowgirl head coach Heather Ezell says it will be crucial for Fertig to stay out of foul trouble, and be on the floor, as much as possible.

“We know that those two will be going at each other quite a bit,” said Ezell. “The biggest thing is that Allyson has to stay on the floor just for us offensively, to help our motion and have that presence. I know Marta (Savic) gives us that same look at times to. Just like any game, we have to keep her (Fertig) out of foul trouble because she’s such a big part of our offense.”

The Cowgirls are at UNLV tonight. That tip off is set for 7:30 pm mountain time.
