Homeless Count Takes Place Wednesday

Staff    1-27, 2016

Hundreds of volunteers will be out in force across the state attempting to get an accurate count of the homeless in Wyoming. Today is the Point In Time homeless count. Brenda Lyttle, Senior Administrator of the Assistance Division of the Wyoming Department of Family Services, says one of the reasons the count is important is to get federal funding.

Lyttle says it is also important to know how many homeless there are so the state can develop policy and programs for assistance.

The Point In Time count will be done in every county in the state. Lyttle says there were 800 homeless counted in the state but that that number is probably low.
