IRS Filing Deadline is Monday

Staff    4-14, 2016

April 15th at midnight is traditionally the last day to file a federal income tax return, but last minute filers get a break this year. Karen Connelly, spokesperson for the IRS, says the deadline has been pushed to April 18th due to a Washington D.C. Holiday.

Connelly says there are some common mistakes last minute filers make. Double checking your work can prevent mistakes.

Connelly says e-filing is becoming more and more popular. About 90% of federal income returns are electronically filed. She says returns get processed faster and refunds are sent more quickly.
