It Just Felt Different With Wyoming

Campbell County quarterback Mason Drube recently committed to play football for the Wyoming Cowboys. Drube had a number of offers and made a number of visits, which included a number of Power Five programs. He says it was pretty cool to feel wanted by so many football programs, but in the end, he felt that the Cowboys offer was more genuine.

“It feels great to feel wanted, of course, but a lot of these big programs, you get there, and you’re kind of just thrown out into the ocean,” says Drube. “I feel like it was different with Wyoming. I felt like it was a school where Coach (Jay) Sawvel really liked me, and was really going to take advantage of my talent, and I can thrive with the Cowboys.

Even though Wyoming came in with a late offer, Drube felt that it was going to be the fit that he wanted–since they started recruiting him when he entered high school.

“They were my last offer, but they were probably the truest one, because they stayed with me.” Drube added, “They started recruiting me my freshman year, and then they waited me out until my senior year, and then once Coach (Jay) Johnson (UW offensive coordinator) saw me throw, they offered me.”

Drube is heading into his senior year at Campbell County, and is expecting to graduate in December and head to UW for the spring semester.
