There’s a lot going on this weekend, as far as athletics are concerned at the University of Wyoming. It actually starts this (Thursday) evening with Cowgirl volleyball hosting San Jose State. Of course, you’ve got the Border War football game Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium. But, tomorrow (Friday) night will be a celebratory one for the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team. Before their exhibition game, the Mountain West Tournament Championship banner will be raised, and the players and coaches will receive their championship rings. Head coach Gerald Mattinson believes it will be a fun night, and weekend, for all.
“We thought it would be really good to try and time it with a big weekend here. Border War weekend for football, so there will be a lot of excitement going on” Mattinson said. “You get some people in town, volleyball’s at home, so there’s a lot of things going on this weekend that gives fans a chance to participate in a lot of different events. I think it really worked out, where it’s at, and I thing it’s going to be a fun night.”
The Wyoming Cowgirls will host UC-Colorado Springs Friday evening at 6:30 pm in the Arena Auditorium.
