The Wyoming Lottery board voted 8 to 1 to release salary information for board members and employees after more than a month of denying a local newspaper’s request for the information.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1J0l7eh ) that Lottery CEO Jon Clontz says he will distribute the salary information Tuesday. Clontz had denied the newspaper’s request for salary and benefit figures May 8.
The lottery and newspaper disagreed in the interpretation of the 2013 law that created the organization.
Lottery officials argued it is a private company, since its board obtained a bank loan for startup costs and did not receive any public money. The newspaper contends it is quasi-public because the governor appoints the board and the lottery must submit quarterly reports to the
