A fatal crash west of Sundance, Wyoming on August 9th has resulted in the death of 59 year old Saugus, Massachusetts resident Paul Conti. The crash occurred at 12:24 p.m. on the 9th near mile post 189 on US Highway 14 approximately 12 miles west of Sundance.
Conti was operating a 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling west on US-14 in a left hand curve when the motorcycle left the highway to the north. After leaving the highway, Conti was thrown from the motorcycle.
Conti had a helmet with him but was not wearing it at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries on scene.
Driver inattention and failing to maintain a lane of travel are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash that marked the 66th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016. There were 92 fatalities during this same time period in 2015.
