The Freshman of the Year in the Mountain West Conference has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Wyoming freshman point guard Marcus Williams had quite the first year in Laramie. Williams was named the freshman of the year in the league, averaging 15 points and four assists per game.
Now, Williams is in the NCAA transfer portal. Head coach Jeff Linder cofirmed the reports through a University of Wyoming press release, saying, “We thank Marcus for his contributions to our program, and we wish him well in the future.”
Before both Linder and Williams came to Wyoming, Williams was going to go to Northern Colorado while Linder was the head coach there.
Williams is the second Wyoming player to enter the transfer portal, as sophomore guard Kwane Marble II left the program a couple of weeks ago. He transferred to Loyola Marymount and was reunited with former Cowboy head coach Allen Edwards.
