More Help Arrives To Fight Wildfire South Of Douglas

AP 8-10,2015

Additional firefighters and air resources are arriving to help battle a wildfire burning in northern Albany County.

The fire is burning in La Bonte Canyon in the Medicine Bow National Forest, about 35 miles southwest of Douglas. It has charred about 500 acres since it started last Thursday.

It is about 15 percent contained and burning in rough terrain.

On Saturday, about 60 firefighters aided by two helicopters and two air tankers kept the fire from growing too much despite gusty, erratic winds.

Elsewhere in Wyoming, firefighters have contained nearly 60 percent of a wildfire burning in the Tongue River Canyon on Sheridan County.

The fire was burned about 2.5 square miles since it started on Aug. 2.
