This winter has been weird – snow one week, 60-degree temperatures the next. The nice thing is that the warmer weather has allowed us to escape cabin fever once in a while, but getting outside just makes you think more about hunting. And depending on whether you have a limited quota or general turkey tag, you still have to wait until either April 1st or April 20th to go hunting.
But you can distract yourself with a weekend devoted to everything about hunting except the actual hunting. The Muley Fanatics Foundation and the Wyoming Game and Fish are bringing Mule Deer Days back again to the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs on March 21st through the 23rd.
The vendor show, which opens at noon on the 21st, is free to attend. It’ll be open until 6 p.m. that day, then from 9-6 on the 22nd. On the 23rd, it’ll be open from 9-2.
There are lots of other fun things to do, too, and the bulk of the cost of admission to the special events will go toward conservation and wildlife habitat right here in Wyoming.
On the night of the 21st, the Kuiu Deer Camp fundraising banquet starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100 for individuals, or there are several options for tables. On the 22nd, Casino Night starts at 6 p.m. Tickets for that event are $75 for individuals, but there are table options there, too. And if you’re in Rock Springs early, on the 20th, they’re having the Eastman’s Movie Night, including a meet & greet with Ike Eastman. Tickets for that event are $20.
And of course, there will be tons of giveaways, door prizes, raffles and auctions. Make sure you get to Rock Springs on the 21st through the 23rd.
