Laurie Nichols has taken over as president of University of Wyoming.

She replaced Dick McGinity who took over the university during a difficult and tumultuous time.

McGinity took the job after former UW President Bob Sternberg resigned amid controversy in November 2013. He originally took the role of interim president, but the UW Board of Trustees appointed McGinity the 25th president in January 2014.

McGinity tells the Laramie Boomerang (http://bit.ly/1OSSEL8) that he saw the job as both opportunity and duty.

UW Board of Trustee President John MacPherson says the university was lucky to have McGinity at the time and the institution is a much better place now because of his leadership.
