A task force has finished its work drafting proposed new K-12 science standards for Wyoming.
The proposed standards were released Friday by the state Department of Education and are designed to replace outdated science standards.
This the second attempt at reviewing the state’s science standards. The first attempt was halted over use of Next Generation Science Standards and how they addressed human caused global warming.
The task force that came up with the new proposed standards considered the Next Generation Science Standards but looked at others as well and added Wyoming specific elements.
Officials say the new proposed standards for Wyoming are more fair and balanced in how human caused global warming is instructed.
The State Board of Education will review the proposed standards and take public comment.
