Panel Looks At Body Cameras For Police Officers

AP 8-2,2016

A task force of state lawmakers and others is looking at whether Wyoming should adopt a law regulating the use of body cameras by police departments.
The Task Force on Digital Information Privacy considered two proposals during a meeting Monday in Casper.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports that one proposal assumed that under most circumstances any videos taken by the body cameras would be public. Another assumed they would not.
A law enforcement group opposes public release of police video, while a newspaper group says there should be some public access to police videos.
The task force instructed legislative staff to draft a third proposal that would cover concerns from both sides and will be considered at a future meeting.
