A large trough of low pressure will move into the Rockies and Plains today and will remain settled over the region on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. A cold front will also push in a west-to-east direction across the state of Wyoming later today. Expect thickening clouds, breezy to gusty winds, and developing rain, thunderstorms, and mountain snow today. Temperatures will also be warmer than normal, with highs in the 50’s and 60’s. By later tonight and early Tuesday morning, rain will mix with and turn to snow throughout the entire state. For elevations at or below 6,000 feet, watch out for wet to slick and possibly some slushy road conditions. For elevations above 6,000 feet, roads will likely be slick to very slushy. Visibility will also be reduced throughout the entire state due to snowfall, areas of fog, and possible blowing snow. We can then expect cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with significantly colder and well below average temperatures on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There will also be a good chance for snow or a rain/snow mix during this time. The main travel concern would be the potential for slick to slushy roads over the higher elevations, especially on I-80. Another round of cool and unsettled weather will arrive on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
