Shoshone National Forest to offer online Christmas tree permits

USDA 11-6-20

Christmas tree permits for the Shoshone National Forest will be available to purchase online through Recreation.gov beginning November 9, 2020. Details about designated cutting areas, cutting dates, and types of trees that may be cut can be found here https://www.recreation.gov/tree-permits/shoshone.

The Forest Service decided to make permits available online at Recreation.gov as an added convenience for visitors; online sales will also provide an alternative to in-person transactions at offices that may remain closed due to the current pandemic.

To purchase a Christmas tree permit, visit www.recreation.gov and search for Shoshone National Forest Christmas Tree Permits. It is important to carefully read the overview and need-to-know information before purchasing the permit. Visitors will also need to set up or login to a Recreation.gov account to complete the transaction.

Starting Monday, November 9th, Christmas tree permits will be available for purchase by appointment Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm at Shoshone National Forest district offices in Cody, Lander, and Dubois.

Permits will once again be available for purchase at several local businesses.
