A rollover crash on May 26th resulted in over 25 tons of hot oil spilling out from the tanker hauling it. The crash occurred at 6:52 a.m. near mile post 105 on WY 270 approximately five miles north of Manville, Wyoming.

A 1994 Kenworth tractor was hauling the tanker trailer. The truck was being driven by 26 year old Vincent McGuire from Wheatland, Wyoming along with one passenger, 23 year old Kendra McGuire, also from Wheatland. Both occupants were not wearing their seat belts and both sustained injury. They were initially assisted out of the truck by a local rancher who stopped to help and then transported to Niobrara County Hospital in Lusk, Wyoming by ground ambulance.

The hot oil that was lost traveled down an embankment, through a culvert and into a nearby creek bed. A hazmat team and cleanup crew did respond to take care of the spill. Speed is being investigated as the contributing factor in the crash. A citation for speeding and two seat belt tickets were issued from the crash.
