The Sportsman’s Warehouse stores in both Cheyenne and Casper are holding their annual Ladies’ Nights tonight. I reported last week that these events are only for women, but I was mistaken. Guys can come, too, but the bulk of the games, discounts and demonstrations will be geared for the ladies. The Casper event runs from 7-9 p.m., and the one in Cheyenne goes from 6-8:30.
The manager of the stores, Dan Baker, says the idea is to give women a chance to shop and learn about hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoors activities in a non-threatening environment. He says it’s run much like the banquets held each year by wildlife organizations like Ducks Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
It’s sort of a carnival-type atmosphere. There will be folks there from the Elk Foundation, a women’s shooting group, and Healing Waters – the fly-fishing organization dedicated to helping vets returning from war zones readjust to civilian life by going fishing.
There will be lots of prizes, too. Baker says they’ll have a Wall of Guns raffle, and some of the visiting organizations will be giving away goodies, too. Most of the store’s departments will have games, and there will be a silent auction offering all sorts of gear made specifically for women. And on top of all of that, there will be extra discounts and specials available only to women.
But it’s not just about helping women get out into the field. This year, a portion of the money raised at the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society for cancer research.
Come on out and learn something new, get some great deals, win some prizes, and help a great cause.
