The Wyoming Association of Municipalities is rallying support for an attempt to increase State funding to local governments. The State of Wyoming is facing big budget shortfalls with a downturn in the energy industry. Budget cuts are being discussed. In his budget, Governor Matt Mead has proposed $90 million for local governments. Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen, who is one of the regional directors for WAM, says they want all 99 WAM members to join in asking for an additional $15 million for local governments.

Governor Mead is also proposing $33 million for local governments from the Abandoned Mine Lands money that will be targeted for capital projects.
