Why can’t anyone make decent long underwear?

Has anyone found a brand of long underwear that actually fits? I think I have 12 pairs of long johns, and all of them feel like they were designed by someone who has never worn pants.

What’s the deal with long underwear? I have yet to find a pair that fits well. I have more than a dozen pairs I’ve bought over the years, each time hoping the new pair will fit like it should. But every time, I’m disappointed. Most of them feel like they’re on backward. It’s like the person who designs long underwear doesn’t even have a lower body.

I’ve even bought pairs made by the exact same company that makes the underwear I wear every day. Not to get too personal here, but my underwear fits well. It’s comfortable. It fits so well, sometimes I have a panicked moment when I think I actually forgot to put them on. But the long underwear that same company makes does not. It rides up in the front and falls down in the back. It twists around and gets tight on one leg, or it bunches up in inopportune places.

Why don’t they just start with the plan for the regular underwear, then make the legs longer? That would be the sensible approach. They should know the normal underwear fits well, because last I checked, their website had like 30,000 positive reviews for the day-to-day shorts. So if they just stretched out the legs on those, they’d have the world’s only pair of long underwear that actually fit well, and they’d be the long john juggernaut.

But no. They don’t do that. They just keep churning out longhandles that creep, fold, wrinkle, bunch, sag, compress, choke and droop. Sometimes all of these things at the same time.

But I will say whenever I’ve worn them, I don’t worry about the cold. I think I’m always paying too much attention to the bunching and sagging to even think about being cold. And maybe that’s the secret, and making them fit would just ruin it. But I’d still like to find a pair that fits right so I can figure that out myself.
