I missed last year’s inaugural Mule Deer Days, but not for lack of trying. My son Logan and I jumped in the truck and headed for Rock Springs, but due to a late winter storm, the Interstate was closed right outside of Cheyenne. So we tried to go around through Casper and down from Riverton, but by the time we got to Riverton, South Pass was closed. We ended up spending the weekend in Riverton, which allowed us to hang out with family, but we didn’t get to go to Mule Deer Days.
That’s not going to happen this year. You might hit some rain on your drive, but it doesn’t look like snow’s going to be a problem. And even if there were some inclement weather, it’s going to be worth driving through it. They’ll have more than 50 booths from Kuiu, Weatherby, Kel-Tec, Maven, Lucid, and a bunch of others. You can also meet Cody and Kelsy Robbins from Live2Hunt at the event, and there’ll be a bunch of gear giveaways and raffles, including more than 200 guns and a Ford Bronco Raptor.
Admission to the event is free, but there are some extra events as well. Thursday night is the Annie Oakley Dinner for women and you can still get tickets for $75 each or a table for $800. On Saturday night, you can learn from the Flip-Flop Guy how to make this incredible wild game dish. There are still some tickets available for that for $100 each. Last I checked, though, the Casino Night on Friday night was sold out. Get tickets for these events either at Mule Deer Days or on the Muley Fanatics website at MuleyFanatic.org.
Make sure you get to Rock Springs for this event. It doesn’t look like you’ll have snow and closed roads to deal with this year, so you’ll have a clear shot to it.
