Wildlife officials captured a young black bear sleeping under an aspen tree after it led them on a daylong chase through east Casper.
Janet Milek, a spokeswoman for Wyoming Game and Fish, tells The Casper Star-Tribune the bear was captured Wednesday evening and was so tired from the chase “he didn’t move when we used the tranquilizer.”
The disoriented yearling hopped residential fences throughout the day, drawing spectators to their back porches. At some homes, officers joined residents with binoculars to try to spot the bear.
The bear is expected to be moved to a new home in the Laramie Range.
