A Rawlins woman has been sentenced to prison after taking marijuana into the Carbon County Jail while being booked for other drug related charges.
The Rawlins Times reports 31-year-old Kayla Lusch was sentenced Tuesday to 18 to 36 months in prison.
According to a Carbon County Sheriff’s Office affidavit, Lusch had been arrested on a felony warrant in April. Because of her known history of bringing drugs into the jail, she underwent a strip search when she arrived.
The deputy assisting the search heard a “crinkling plastic” sound from Lusch. A Carbon County corporal assisted the deputy in retrieving a small bag of marijuana from Lusch.
Lusch says she didn’t tell anybody she had the marijuana, because she didn’t want to get another charge.
