Sophomore forward Shaina Ashouri was the lone Cowgirl named First Team All-Conference by the Mountain West head coaches in a poll released Monday. It was the first All-Conference honor of her career. She is third in the MW with nine goals, seven assists and 25 points. During conference matches Ashouri tallied three goals and six assists. She was honored as the MW Offensive Player of the Week for the matches played on Sept. 4 and Sept. 6. It was the first MW weekly nod for Ashouri.
The forward also notched the first hat trick of her career to top the Idaho State Bengals, 3-0, which ties the individual single-game record for goals for Wyoming. She ranks sixth in UW history for goals in a single-season with nine and is tied for fifth in assists with seven. Ashouri has tied the single-season points record with 25 which has not been done since Tamika Wilson accomplished the feat in 2007.
Sophomore defender Alisha Bass and freshman goalkeeper Cassidy Entsminger garnered honorable mention accolades for the first time in their career. Bass has notched two goals and one assist on the year and has totaled seven goals and seven assists in her career as a Cowgirl. Bass has been an important part of the tough Wyoming defense as she has played in every minute of every match since the second week this season.
Entsminger has also been a huge part of the defensive power for Wyoming. She has accumulated 38 saves and recorded an impressive .63 goals against average during the year. She has tabbed 1003 minutes of playing time and has only allowed seven goals in her career.
