The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is surveying hunters who held licenses for mountain lions last fall and this spring.
Many hunters who buy a lion tag don’t hunt them specifically, but carry the tag in case they happen to see a lion while going after deer or elk.
The game department is seeking information about hunter success rates and how much time hunters put into their hunts.
Lion hunters already are required to have their kill checked by state officials. The survey will give the state additional information on lion hunting, including whether hunters were successful.
Hunters who provided email addresses when they bought their licenses will receive surveys by email while others will receive paper surveys by mail.
