A 53-year-old Gillette woman has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after her husband was shot to death over the weekend. Gillette Police Lt. Chuck Deaton says Debra Johnson called police at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday to report that she had shot her husband. He was found in the living room with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Deaton says Johnson acknowledged shooting her 48-year-old husband with a hunting rifle. Deaton says Johnson has been cooperating with the investigation. She is jailed pending an initial court appearance on Tuesday. Detention center officials did not know if she had an attorney.
The victim’s name and a motive for the shooting have not been released.
