I have a new way to earn ammo & gear money

I’m starting a new side business to make some money to afford my hunting and shooting habit. Having to work extra’s going to cut into my hunting and shooting time, but it’s the only way I can seem to afford ammo these days.

A few years back, I worked with a friend who does what he calls “trash outs.” When a landlord has a renter who cuts out on them and leaves a mess behind, or if someone buys a place that has a bunch of junk scattered around they don’t want, they call Tom to come over with a trailer and gather up all the stuff the renter left behind and haul it to the dump. It can be a pretty nasty job at times, but it’s good manual labor, and it pays pretty good. I think it would be a good side business to afford my hunting and shooting addictions.

Ammo has gotten pretty expensive, and the more I hunt, I get more and more particular about my hunting gear. The good stuff isn’t cheap, and there’s always some new outer garment, long underwear, or rifle I find myself needing. I figured I’d start doing trash outs to make some extra hunting and shooting money.

The beauty of doing trash outs is that they usually pay by the job, not by the hour. If I work quickly, I can make a lot of ammo money in a short amount of time. On top of that, it can be somewhat strenuous, especially if I’m working quickly, so I can get a good workout while I make money, which will help me get in hunting shape before the season. And as an added bonus, if I get a steady stream of trash outs, I could cancel my gym membership, because of all the extra exercise I’ll be getting, and I can use that money for hunting gear, as well.

The trick is finding the people who want someone else to do that work. I landed one trash out over the weekend, and a day’s work got me enough money for a season’s worth of .300 Win Mag ammo. It was a good start, but I’m going to need a lot more of them to accomplish my fitness goals and buy all the gear I need for hunting season this year.
