For the first time in her career, guard Liv Roberts has been selected as the Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Nov. 28-Dec. 4. She is the first player since Dec. 14, 2015 when Marquelle Dent won the award.
Roberts, a 5-11 junior from Missoula, Mont., led the Cowgirls to a 2-0 mark this past weekend with victories over Southern Utah and South Dakota. Wyoming improved to 6-2 on the season and is a perfect 6-0 at home. She averaged a double-double over two contests with 20 points and ten rebounds. Roberts shot 11-of-20 (.550) from the field and 16-of-21 (.762) from the free throw line. She also added six assists while averaging 37.0 per game.
Against the Thunderbirds, she recorded a career-high 21 points while adding eight rebounds and tied a career-high with four assists. She was 6-of-10 (.600) from the field and 8-of-10 (.800) from the free throw line. Followed that up with her first double-double of the season with 19 points and a career-high 12 boards. Roberts has recorded double-digits in six contests including the last five in a row.
Wyoming will play its final home non-conference game on Friday against the Idaho Vandals before facing Montana and Colorado on the road. Friday’s game time is set for 6:30 p.m. MT in the Arena-Auditorium.
