A Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending an ongoing investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department and an administrative internal investigation by the Wyoming Highway Patrol’s Professional Standards and Conduct Division.
Robert King, a Cheyenne area WHP Trooper since December of 2008, was placed on leave back on February 17th after the WHP was contacted by the Cheyenne Police Department and made aware of an investigation involving Mr. King.
Kevin Malatesta, Public Information Officer for the Cheyenne Police Department said they are investigating two separate incidents.
“The initial incident took place February 16. It involved felony vandalism, and we notified the Highway Patrol when we were informed of this. The second incident took place last night, Robert King was in the 600 block of W. 3rd St. He had a protection order, he violated that protection order and that’s he was arrested for that last night a violation of the protection order and trespassing.”
It is standard Wyoming Highway Patrol policy to place an employee on leave when any WHP member is being investigated by an outside law enforcement agency.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is assisting the Cheyenne Police Department with the investigation.
