WHP Identifies Residents Killed in Crash North of Lingle

Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers are identifying the three people killed in a fatal crash north of Lingle Friday afternoon. The crash along US Highway 85 occurred around 3:45 p.m. and involved a Toyota passenger car and a Chrysler minivan.

The Toyota was southbound on US 85 while the Chrysler was traveling northbound when it crossed the center line and collided with the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as 44-year-old Alicia Rodriguez of Torrington. The driver of the Chrysler was identified as 84-year-old Nels Smith and the passenger was identified as 85-year-old Jeanette Smith, both of Beulah.

Driver inattention and fatigue/asleep are being investigated as a potential contributing factor. The crash is still under investigation.

This is the 97th, 98th and 99th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2023.
