The winner of the record $1.8 million dollar Wyoming Lottery Cowboy Draw jackpot is from Colorado.
The winning ticket (advertised at $1,840,000) was purchased on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Flying J located at 2250 Etchepare Dr., in Cheyenne. This was the seventh jackpot-winning ticket sold for Wyoming’s own game, and the second for a jackpot of over a million dollars. The last Cowboy Draw jackpot winner was on October 15, 2015.
The winner has chosen to remain anonymous, but did share that he would like to pay off his mortgage. He had never travelled to Cheyenne before, but drove from Denver to explore the site of the world’s largest outdoor rodeo after seeing a commercial for Cheyenne Frontier Days. He then decided to purchase lottery tickets and was intrigued by Cowboy Draw’s record-high jackpot. Our winner feels very lucky as this was the first time he has played Cowboy Draw.
“It does feel pretty good,” he said about winning the largest jackpot in Cowboy Draw’s history. He also believes that the winnings will make life a little easier after having returned to school and just completed his studies in December. He said he will continue to enjoy the Cowboy State and plans future trips to Cheyenne Frontier Days and Jackson Hole, and he will definitely buy more WyoLotto tickets.
Cowboy Draw made history when it was launched in March 2015 as the first lottery game playable only in Wyoming. Since then, the game’s legend has grown with a wagon train of $1,000 winners and multiple jackpot wins, including a then record-setting million-dollar jackpot in September.
The winning numbers for the drawing on Monday, February 8 were: 3, 7, 15, 22, and 45.
