One man died and two others were injured in an avalanche at Grand Teton National Park’s Mount Moran.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports (http://bit.ly/1KfjOrO ) that 38-year-old Luke Lynch died Sunday morning while on the steep Sickle Couloir.
Grand Teton National Park spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs says some of the men were swept 500 feet over ice and rocks before the avalanche stopped.
Skaggs said some rescuers were flown to the site and others reached the area after boating across Jackson Lake from Colter Bay Marina. There are no maintained trails to the base of Mount Moran.
Sickle Couloir is a narrow 3,100-foot chute that starts at the top of the peak and runs up to 45 degrees. It was first skied in 2000.
