Wyoming Cowboy head football coach Craig Bohl released the week zero two-deep for the Pokes opener at Illinois. Everything was normal, with the exception of the quarterback spot. No names were given on the two-deep–just the abbreviation TBA, for to be announced. All signs point to Utah State transfer Andrew Peasely getting the nod. Bohl says whoever it is, they feel good about what they’ve done to get someone ready.
“We feel good about the progress we’ve made. But until you really go out there and start playing against an opponent, when things aren’t scripted, whoever the quarterback is, how they respond.” Bohl added, “The number of guys we’ve had in there, we feel good about, and they’ll do a good job of leading our offense.”
Offensive lineman Eric Abojei may have let the cat out of the bag a little bit, as he describes a need for them to be a more balanced offense, utilizing some of the new players that came in during the offseason.
“With the new, key players that we have coming in, like (QB) Andrew Peasley, and just a lot of our threats with our tight ends and our receivers, I think Andrew is going to be able to make the right reads.” Abojei added, “with our blocking and making sure he has enough time to make those passes, will definitely open up our pass game. I think just making sure he’s clean and he’s protected, and no penalties will help us push through for this W this weekend.”
The Wyoming Cowboys are at Illinois this Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 2 pm mountain time.
